Once, the key drivers for telecommuting were productivity and flexibility the so-called work-life balance that many workers strive for. These benefits still exist, but increasingly, financial considerations such as gas prices, the credit crisis and hard cost savings drive telecommuting programs.
Many local companies are re-discovering the “cost avoidance” of telecommuting, or working from home, as more and more motorists are trying to think of ways to spend less time behind the wheel. One significant way to reduce fuel consumption is to reduce the number of trips we make to and from work.
