How do you know if your network infrastructure is ready for VoIP? Network Assessment. What is a Network Assessment? A Network is a routine series of steps we execute to assess the readiness of your network for voice over IP services. Those steps may include the following:
- Interview with customer of existing or required programs, applications & use of the data network.
- Considering hardware in network infrastructure; routers, firewalls, LAN switches & cabling.
- Analyze traffic flows in the network to determine if bandwidth issues will arise when VoIP is added to the network.
- May use more complex tools like network sniffers, protocol analyzers, synthetic traffic generators & monitors over a day or week.
- Watch and measure how the network reacts when voice traffic is simulated over the network.
The end result can be as simple as a section of the proposal or a detailed several hundred page report documenting everythyiing to bit packet flows.
At TOTLCOM, we know that Network Assessments are the key to a healthy VoIP system and thus make them a mandatory prerequisite for all VoIP implementations.
We offer stand alone Network Assessments if your goal is to receive an objective opinion not related to a telephone system installation.
So call us for a Network Assessment today - or pay later with dropped calls, jitter, latency and packet loss.
